The Playacar Palace is located in Playa del Carmen within walking distance to the shops and nightlife of 5th Avenue. The ferry to Cozumel is located at the end of its beach. It is an easy ferry ride to the Cozumel Palace and exchange privileges are included.  The resort is very contemporary/minimalistic with mostly white décor with stylish accents. There is a beautiful infinity pool with a huge swim up pool bar. The beach is gorgeous after the 2011 restoration.   The resort also offers complimentary phone calls to the United States and a resort credit ($750 for 3 nights, $1500 for 7 nights). The resort credit can be used for golf, tours, swim with the dolphins, upgraded wine, and a limited amount in the spa.  There is a Mexican government tax of 11% on all services used with the resort credit.

The rooms are very nice at the Playacar Palace with trendy decor and a two person Jacuzzi tub in the main room. The bathroom is all marble with a trendy vanity and separate shower. 85% of the rooms have an ocean view. There is a fully stocked minibar, complimentary WIFI and 24 hour room service is included. There are 4 restaurants at the Playacar Palace. All of which are a la carte. No restaurant takes reservations and there are no limitations. The 3 a la carte restaurants have a Mexican, Italian, and Japanese theme. There is also a cool club/lounge called Luna which serves light Thai cuisine in the evenings. The resort has premium liquor and Mexican beer in cans and draft (Dos Equis XX, Tecate, and Corona).

Overall this is a great resort. The beach and pool area is fantastic and I love the location with easy access to the cute little Margarita Bars of Fifth Ave.  This would be nice for active people due to the resort credit.  The main drawback of the Playacar Palace is
