Dreams Riviera Cancun opened in November of 2009 and is one of my favorite family resort in the area. The resort is located 30 minutes South of the Cancun Airport. Dreams Riviera Cancun is on an ok beach that has an occasional seaweed problem. There are several large beautiful pool areas and the resort has a fantastic symmetrical layout. The resort has 486 Jr. suites with location and Preferred Club being the main difference (square footage and layout is identical). There are several unique room categories at this resort including plunge pool suites (decent sized pool, but no privacy). The resort has 8 restaurants with the same themes as most Dreams Resorts (French, Italian, Mexican, Seafood, Grill, Oriental with teppanaki and sushi, buffet, and 24 hour room service). The resort offers all premium brand liquor and American beer compliments the Mexican selections. Super premium liquor (Grey Goose, Kettle One, etc.) is available in the Preferred Club. No reservations are accepted (Except for the teppanaki tables), and clients receive a beeper if there is a wait for a table.
The Preferred Club rooms are closest to the beach and offer wonderful views. In addition to access to the Preferred Club with Super premium liquor, computers, and food presentations, guests also receive complimentary internet access (WIFI), private check in, expanded room service menu, and liquor and snacks in the minibar. Preferred Club rooms also have Jacuzzis on the balcony. The Master Suite and Presidential suites are double the size of the normal junior suites with fantastic amenities.
The resort has an Explorers club for children ages 4-12 years old. The club has a rock climbing wall, foos ball tables, video games, and more. Adults are given beepers in case their children require attention. There is a Desires Lounge which doubles as a sports bar and nightly entertainment venue. The resort offers free weddings and has a very contemporary wedding gazebo with a Mayan flair. Honeymooners can get the Eternity Honeymoon package for free (an $800 value!) if they spend 7 nights in a Preferred Club Ocean front junior suite or higher.
Overall, I love this resort. The rooms are great. There are fantastic pools, unique accommodations, great restaurants, premium alcohol, and good beach. I would highly recommend for families, couples, and destination weddings.
