Resort Description
A luxurious all-inclusive resort that delivers leisure in an oasis of ‘old world charm’ and understated elegance. This elegantly appointed resort looks out upon the crystal clear turquoise blue water of the Bahamas. A feeling of timeless elegance adorns the stately entrance and colorful bougainvillea that line the cobblestone driveway. In 1946, the original resort “The Balmoral Club” was created to be the playground for many of the Royal friends of the then Governor of The Bahamas, the Duke of Windsor. The architecture portrays an elaborate sophistication, Roman columns and a large 25-foot tall statuary guard the entrance to the porte-cochere. Located on Nassau’s renowned Cable Beach, approximately 10 minutes from Lynden Pindling International Airport and 20 minutes from Downtown Nassau and Bay Street. Approximately 30 minutes from Paradise Island.

Before giving my description of this resort specifically, let’s summarize what is true about all Sandals resorts. All Sandals resorts are located on English speaking islands in the Caribbean. They’re adults only and couples only (no kids and no singles). Sandals resorts are all inclusive and include more amenities than any other resort chain. All Sandals resorts have at least 7 dining options up to 22 depending on which resort you choose. Sandals resorts are smaller and roomier than most all-inclusive resorts (the average in Mexico or the Dominican Republic is 700 rooms with three restaurants). The majority of Sandals Resorts are 250-350 rooms, with the largest being 505 rooms (with 15 restaurants). Sandals serves top shelf liquor and partners with Beringer for their house wines.
Sandals resorts are social! They cater to honeymooners and a younger demographic. There is a full activity program including sports games (volleyball, ping pong, tennis clinics, free throw shooting contests, etc.), silly couples games (water balloon toss, three legged race, belly flop competition), and live music every night. All non-motorized watersports are included (Hobie Cats, water trikes, sea kayaks, stand up paddleboards, wind surfing, and more). SCUBA (if you’re certified) and snorkeling trips are included as well.
Sandals Royal Bahamian has 405 rooms and is located on a great stretch of Cable Beach, 10 minutes from the Nassau Airport. The Royal Bahamian is very elegant, from the landscaping to the architecture. The Balmoral Tower was gutted and completely renovated in 2012. Sandals Royal Bahamian has a great beach with no seaweed, powdery white sand, and turquois water. However it’s not a long walking beach. There are many chairs and umbrellas available. There is a private island that has a pool, spa, restaurant, and secluded beach. The resort offers free shuttle boat transfers throughout the day to the private island.
There is a brand new pier at this resort. At the end of the pier is a new gourmet restaurant called Gordon’s on the Pier. (This resort is only available to butler quests.) There are two enormous pools here. They both have swim up pool bars. There are a total of 9 restaurants at this resort featuring Mediterranean/Caribbean, International, French, Italian, Caribbean/Southwestern, Bahamian, Pub style, Teppanyaki and Gourmet. The overall feel of this resort is fun, friendly and elegant. If you don’t enjoy yourself here you won’t have a good time anywhere.
